American Dipper
I wasn't sure if I'd be able to see the bird in this photo, as the American Dipper was such a similar colour to the river water. We saw this bird today at Elbow Falls along Elbow Falls Trail, Kananaskis. In "Birds of Alberta" by Fisher and Acorn, it says that "along fast-flowing mountain waters, it stands on a streamside rock, doing deep knee bends; then, it zips upstream and dives into the water, disappearing momentarily below the surface as it hunts for insects while walking underwater."
