Fishermen.

Fishermen.
The economy of Cape Verde is service-oriented, with commerce, transport, and public services accounting for more than 70% of GDP.Although nearly 35% of the population lives in rural areas, agriculture and fishing contribute only about 9% . Fish and shellfish are plentiful, and small quantities are exported.

TRIPOD MAN, Xata, Dimas Sequeira, Karp Panta and 21 other people have particularly liked this photo

We used to pull the nets like this when I was young, the kids job was to separe the fish and specially to put apart the "spider fish" (Trachinus draco)... without being pinched...

No: It was survival. We had to work almost since we could stand on two legs and understand simple orders. We were not unhappy at all, work was fun too, at our age we had no notion that we were amongst the poorest... that came later!
I really miss what the solidariety and the relationships, the human values were then. Those people are my family and best friends.

In the Algarve, Anção, Ria Formosa.... and in Summer I was hired to work first in the fields, then when they realized I was very good at counting I was due to count and note down the weight of wheat entering the watermill and coming out as bags.
