Nederland - Texel, Het Noorden
Windmill Het Noorden is an octagonal smock mill, which was built in 1878. The mill was used to drain the polder of the same name, in the northeastern part of the island of Texel. Later the need arose for a more powerful drainage system and a pumping station running on oil was added. The windmill became more and more out of operation and was shut down in 1923.
The mill was repaired in 1928, but was definitively decommissioned in the 1960s for the drainage of the polder. In September 2017 the Vereniging Natuurmonumenten (Society for Preservation of Nature Monuments in the Netherlands) became the owner of the windmill, after which a thorough restoration took place. Windmill Het Noorden - an iconic building on the edge of the polder - is currently once again in use by volunteers.

What a surprise I got when I went outside to see how my poppy bud was doing! I whooped in delight when I found it completely open in the morning sun, and a gorgeous, glorious, ruby red! My very first red poppy! I stared in rapt joy at this delicate blossom before I watered the garden, and then I took pictures. So, the droplets you see were not from rain, but I certainly loved the way they made the petals look!
Today was the hottest of the year so far, topping out at over 100 degrees. At the end of the day, I was not surprised to find that this beautiful poppy was fried by the heat, its petals curled up and shriveled. How happy I am that I got pictures of it this morning, so that its beauty will be remembered!

Musically Inclined Treble Clef Tendril
When I saw this tendril, I instantly pictured that special symbol that you find on sheets of music. My husband immediately said what it looked like, "Oh, it looks like a treble clef! :D

Would you believe me if I told you that this bud is the same kind of flower as I shared yesterday for my 365 image?! Such amazing flowers! Rough Eyelash blossoms are red, pink or white on the back of the flower and white on the front, so the buds can be found in many different shades. I thought it would be fun to get bud pictures in several colors to share because they are so pretty!

Eine kleine Weile Zeit
Gib mir noch eine kleine Weile Zeit –
ich will die Dinge so wie keiner lieben,

It is the very first photo I posted at Ipernity four six and a half years ago in 2013 when I was migrating from Flickr.
