Scenery Around the Property
These are pictures of scenery around our property in Southern Oregon
Moosie: Mr. Flappy Lips

This image and the next two were taken with our Canon 5D as tests to see how I do with it. The images that follow are a flood of pictures left over from hikes, my autumn and pumpkin patch images, and many from around our property. There are lots of neat things to see if you feel like skimming! ENJOY!
This ridiculous-looking dog is our Basset Hound, Moosie. Here he is, running down to our gate, lips a-flappin! Such a silly boy!
Thanks to all of you who have left comments and fav'ed my images! I appreciate them all! If you leave a comment, I try very hard to return the favor on the same day. I consider it both a compliment that you've taken the time to tell me what you think about my image(s) and an invitation for me to come see your photography as well!

Leaves Against the Rising Sun
Fog and Mist with Steam on the Meadow

(For Sunday Challenge: Since it is ok to use an old picture, I thought I'd toss this one in, as I really love love love the mist coming up off the meadows and the fog in the background. The b/w adds to the magic of this picture, so it's one of my most memorable weather pictures!)
A few days ago I went out to take frost images, but after I got back inside, I looked out the kitchen window and saw steam rising up off the meadow next to our property. It was so awesome looking that I turned around, put my boots back on, grabbed the camera, and took some pictures!
Molten Bubbles in our Stream

|
[best appreciated at full size against black]
We have a seasonal pond that starts to fill in late Fall and dries up in late Spring/early Summer. It's fed by one of our two seasonal streams, which can grow to the size of a small creek during heavy storms. On this day, I wondered what sort of image I would get if I took a macro shot where water flowing over a rock was producing frothy bubbles. I think the result is quite interesting, with odd little pink specks and an almost oily appearance around the molten-like bubbles. I hope you like it!

Here's a section of the amazing sunset sky as the sun sank below the hills. So beautiful. I'm glad I was there to capture it!

It rained a bit today, the skies dull and grey. But as the afternoon wore on, the sky began to clear and we started to see amazing cloud formations marching past. I kept my eye on them, and as the sun began to set, I was ready and waiting! I hope you'll click on this picture to get a larger view--panoramas really need to be seen large for best impact! :)
Elbert Green Hubbard (June 19, 1856 – May 7, 1915) was an American writer, publisher, artist, and philosopher. Raised in Hudson, Illinois, he met early success as a traveling salesman with the Larkin soap company. Today Hubbard is mostly known as the founder of the Roycroft artisan community in East Aurora, New York, an influential exponent of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Among his many publications were the nine-volume work Little Journeys to the Homes of the Great and the short story A Message to Garcia. He and his second wife, Alice Moore Hubbard, died aboard the RMS Lusitania, which was sunk by a German submarine off the coast of Ireland on May 7, 1915. Wikipedia: Elbert Hubbard

A Real Sunrise!! Dedicated to John Varley, John Ed…

Dedicated to two of my dear Flickr friends whose sunrises I admire so much! To John Varley , who is so busy these days he barely has time to take pictures, but whose sunrises always come to mind when I think of him, and to John Edwards , who is always taking incredible landscape pictures at the crack of dawn. And to all of you crazy nuts who actually wake up as the sun comes up WITHOUT an alarm, I dedicate this picture to you!!! *big hugs*
WHY am I up at dawn?! No, I haven't lost my marbles! Steve had to leave the house for a long drive so I made him coffee before he left! :D
If any of you know me, you know I am an incurable night owl. I LOVE the early morning but I HATE getting up in the wee hours because I can never get to bed before 1am or later. This is why a sunrise is so amazing to me! I never see them!! :D Thus, I am always teasing both Johns to go back to sleep and question them as to why are they awake at o'dark hundred?! :D And for the rest of you crazy people out there, I've given you a fair share of harassment too! :) Don't worry, I don't hate you, I'm just jealous! :D
