The world in minature

The world in minature
For World Photography Day, the Earth as seen at the scale model of the Solar System in Eugene, Oregon. The Earth is about the size of a pea, the Sun in the background is about 100 meters away, and Pluto is more than 7km away.

Gertraude, Eric Desjours, trester88, Don Sutherland and 11 other people have particularly liked this photo

Thanks to this representation, one realizes how tiny the earth is. Happy WPD, Steve.

I didn't know they had a scale model in Eugene! Where is it located, on UofO campus? And which direction is pluto - towards the ocean? I really want to visit this next time I'm down the valley.

I like how your photo gives a real sense of depth and that the sun has a feel of a real setting sun.

Happy World Photography Day!

The Sun and inner planets are in Alton Baker Park. The outer planets are in the various parks along the Willamette River going North. eugenesciencecenter.org/exhibits/eugene-solar-system-trail
