AZ - Grand Canyon (misc)
Folder: Arizona
This will probably evolve into the album for pix I think others might find interesting. For now, tho, it's just what doesn't fit elsewhere.
Colorado River from Toroweap Point
1965, probably late summer. An old family slide of a now much-photographed vantage point. This area, now part of Grand Canyon National Park, was pretty remote then! It's famous for the ca. 3000' (1000 m) drop to the river below.
Elves' Chasm
A small tributary stream in the Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA.
Lava Falls!
Lower Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA. As part of a US Geological Survey expedition in May, 1976. The blue flag on the boat has the USGS logo. So I got to do as part of my job what people _pay_ to do for fun ;)
Lava Falls is the largest rapid in the Grand Canyon. It occurs toward the end of a river trip, in the lower canyon, so you have the feeling it's "hanging over your head" most of the trip!
