The Blue Angels, Minden, Nevada airshow, 13 Oct 2018

Here the 4 F-18s that usually fly in the diamond formation are en echelon, transforming into the diamond at the end of the flight. Once again, the sound track consists of over-amplified music and jet noise. Sorry! The Blue Angels are the US Navy's high-performance jet exhibition team, flying F-18s which apparently are suited to carrier operations. So yes, US taxpayers fund _two_ military jet demonstration teams, the Blue Angels and the Air Force's Thunderbirds, who fly F-16s. We're, of course, told it's worth it in terms of prestige, recruitment, etc., but I suspect it has a lot more to do with interservice rivalry! In any case, both teams put on a good show.
