That's a fascinating landscape. As it's limestone, are there caves in the area?

Indeed there are! The next range to the east, the Snake Range, hosts Lehman ("leeman") Caves, originally a National Monument, now part of Great Basin National Park. It even has official Park Service guided tours. There are also some smaller caves in the park that are open by permit to qualified cavers. And the Cherry Creek Range to the west contains Goshute Cave, which I'm told is a good "beginner" undeveloped cave, but I haven't been there. I've also heard there are other less-publicized caves around that you'd have to be connected with the local caving community to find out about. The cave systems tend to be relatively small because the rock units are so broken up by Basin & Range faulting.
