Dramatic change -- how much of that is just seasonal?

Some certainly is. But the river shouldn't be virtually dry in the fall, as it was in '14, and doesn't usually flow so full in the spring. The Carson does have more variation, to be sure, because unlike the Truckee and the Walker there are no dams upstream.

I'd planned on getting up that way in May to see how things looked, but too many obligations.

A striking difference, now it's not only carrying much more water bit quite a bit of mud, it seems.
