The Dunes
Abandoned motel outside Barstow, California, on old US 66. I would assume it went defunct when parallel Interstate-15 was built in the early 60s. It's amazing the palm trees, of which there are several besides this one, have survived. For one thing, vandals often think it's great fun to set the dead, untrimmed fronds on fire.

I've wondered if that had been a motel, the structure just doesn't look like a former motel to me.

I wasn't sure what else it could be. Big sign on old 66, several separate buildings with individual doors that didn't look like old retail--
