Independence Lake

A good-sized reservoir in the Sierra Nevada, California, north of Donner Summit. It's now completely owned by the Nature Conservancy and is open to the public for non-motorized recreation. Independence Creek above the lake is also a major hatching area for the endangered Lahontan trout. Looking west, toward the Sierra crest.
