Baskett Slough

Another "slough"! This one is a Federal wildlife refuge in the Willamette valley outside Salem, Oregon, on a remarkably clear day. The inset shows the official sign. (Due to the goofy way Google shows place names, this is "Dallas." Turns out there's a Dallas, Oregon just outside Salem.)

It it pronounced in the US same ia in UK ?

sl ou(ch!!) no ch of course. but the ou sound is like it is in ouch !

Heh. The area is really more a set of wetlands, so Baskett "Sloughs" would probably be better! Here's a picture looking northeast across the area from Oregon SR 22:
