A well taken landscape. I must admit I don't understand the river being 'run commercially' though.

Thanks, everyone! George, there are companies that run, under permit, commercial raft trips on this part of the river. IOW, you can buy a river excursion, and they'll furnish the right equipment as well as a guide. Usually they furnish lunch, too! Some other parts of the Deschutes are too rough (i.e., dangerous) to be safely run by anyone but experts, so they're not run commercially!

A lovely image. And thanks for the explanation. I wondered about the meaning of "commercial," too. It's certainly a beautiful river--easy to see the appeal of a raft trip on it.
