Thunder River
In the lower Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA. From an old, underexposed slide, but maybe the pic has some historical value! ;) This is a spectacular spring. The groundwater, after percolating thru the limestone above, hits the Cambrian Bright Angel Shale, which acts as a barrier (aquiclude) and forces it to flow sideways, whereupon it encounters the canyon wall.
