"While you swelter/Down there in your shelter"
Mock-up of a late 50s-early 60s vintage fallout shelter, with the All American family (at least he's not wearing a tie!) Atomic Testing Museum, Las Vegas, Nevada. The title is a line from one of Tom Lehrer's satirical songs.

Great catch! Still have those fall-out signs in my apartment building!

Thanks! Do they still include the caches of supplies? (Freeze-dried food and so on?)

My maternal grandfather wore, not just a tie, but a hat, long after it was socially acceptable for men to go bareheaded. He did go bald early, so that might have been a motivation!

The museum is very well done. We took my dad there for his birthday several years ago--he'd worked at the Test Site back in the day, and met some of his old co-workers now working at the museum as docents. He'd also held a high security clearance, and was a bit nonplussed at all the stuff that's been declassified and is now out on public display.

So, if you're ever in Vegas and want Something Completely Different-- ;)
