Garden Pose

Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: FANCY STUDIO BACKDROPS
For the week of: April 13 - April 19, 2026
This gentleman is pictured against a flowery garden backdrop in a rather rumpled suit.
He’s leaning on one of those strange real or fake rocks often used in studio pictures in late Victorian times.
It’s a tintype, found in an antique shop in Branford, Connecticut, 2023.

This is a great photo. I had to blow this up to see all the interesting details, trying to make out what the subject was trying to impart with his pose. Still don't have a theory but I am curious about the small bag hung over his shoulder (binoculars?) and the three eggs at his feet (lunch?).
