Bad Behaviour - Off Scene

Bad Behaviour - Off Scene
Posted (late) for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "Bad behavior."
My father had been warned "don't you dare" take my mother's picture with her hair up in pins. We had visitors staying and my father is being funny. I'm sitting on the back step helping my mother shell peas and I catch my father creeping around the side of the house to take her picture. He holds his finger to his lips, signaling "don't let her know."
This is the split second where I'm torn about not warning her and obeying my Dad, (you can see the tension) and my mother seeing him.
Of course, everyone laughed - but it's interesting to me to see how kids are so unknowing between what is funny and what will cause argument/turmoil.

It's so interesting to hear your explanation of the circumstances behind the photo! It's a good reminder that as much as we might try to make sense of an old photo, our understanding of it so many years later may be dramatically different from how the subjects and photographer originally perceived it.

Thank you, friends!
Alan, I often think that our imagined constructions would make the original people chuckle, or shake their heads in amazement.
