There was a long conversation between people on Flickr about these middle of the head curls - and someone (Saskia? Nancy?) told me that a group of them had come up with choo choo curls for this style.
I can't remember how they came to it.
That's interesting about it not being seen over there. It would be fascinating to discover other styles that didn't cross over, I think.
