Vintage Interior With Two Women, Possibly Twins
OMG! I'm psyched!
This is my very first e-bay purchase and it came in the mail today and it was WAY cheap! And it's so amazingly cool, I love it!
There are so many things to marvel at. I love the hanging doll on the wall, and the incredible variety of frames and the etched glass light fixture, the piano and the ruffled silk skirt.
Wow. I see how people could get addicted to getting photos this way.
This had some minor damage and is a large, thin print on an even larger mat, that I've cropped off to highlight the details.
The photo is about 7" by 9".
On the mat, very faintly at the bottom, it says "Lloyd's, Troy, N.Y.

This is a photo that I'm very sorry not to have been able to bring along the comments for. (Awkward sentence!)_
Perhaps we will be able to do that soon. I had two contacts that, picture by picture, identified nearly all the paintings in this room. There were a great many other interesting comments on this photograph, too.

The sisters look as though they would rap you on the knuckles for disturbing anything in that room. It's certainly a little more museum-like than cozy! : )

A great purchase. Some of the art on the walls has a familiar look to it. Hopefully someone who is well up on art history will have a look at this one. Probably some prints of the Old masters here amongst the ladies' collection. I like the tea things set out on the table. Folks in that era must have spent a lot of time dusting - or their hired help did.

This is a great Victorian interior view. Particularly noteworthy for the size and the extension number of items in the room.It appears to be in the evening as the lights are on and the candles are lit on the mantle.

If you look at this photograph in the largest size, perched on the left of the painting of the woman in the dark dress with a dark wooden frame, (is that a Vigee-LeBrun?) is a photo of Queen Victoria. : )

Fantastic photograph. I like the maid's bell by the door. The details are astonishing, but I feel like I need to run through an open field to clear my head.

This is fantastic. I must immediately add it to about ten of my galleries! ; )

I'll bet you that hanging doll is a sort of cozy for a whisk broom or something...an ancestor of the ones that cover up your spare toilet paper rolls and even the occasional upright vacuum cleaner.

Oh bottoms... just spent ages identifying painting subjects and then saw the post 10 months ago which has about half of them! I added notes with what's what.

Spot on with all those, Le Merle.... I spent ages looking for the Madonna by Reni but couldn't find a match. I was thinking it might be an Assumption or Coronation of the Virgin, which was throwing me off. I've added some new notes accordingly, and corrected my note about a possible Gainsborough. You could be right about the Gerome portrait but I didn't label it as I couldnt find a positive match.

The taste of these ladies is interestingly conventional and European - High Renaissance and Baroque Old Masters, royal portraits, Classical ruins. It's only the boarded ceiling that says this wasn't a photograph sent from England to relatives in the U.S.A.

I think I've just found the picture at the top left : it's a close up of the altarpiece of San Giusto (ca. 1484-86, or ca. 1479, according to my book) by Domenico Ghirlandaio.

LLoyd Studio of Troy. They have been in Troy since opening in 1880. I live just outside Troy in Brunswick and my kids go to school in Bennington Vermont. Lloyd Studio did our high school yearbook photos.

The photograph of a stone archway, just right of the Titian "La Bella", is of Canterbury Cathedral's main gateway, taken from inside the cathedral precincts.
