Very Young Newlyweds?

Very Young Newlyweds?
They really look too young to be newlyweds. Perhaps they're brother and sister.
Found in Vermont, but it has "Regent Road, Salford. James White Photographer" printed on the back.
I think Salford is in the north of England.
Yep, just googled it. It's in Lancashire.

There was a lot of poverty in Vermont too - a lot of hardscrabble farming - but I do think the possibility of bettering yourself was much higher here. My husband has a lot of family that came over from Yorkshire and Lancashire in the nineteenth century. (Quite a few pictured in my Halkard/Grimshaw album.) Many of them look poor to me - although I'm sure people who could afford a photograph were better off than many.
Actually, his paternal grandparents also came over from Barrow in Furness, in the 1920s.

My husband's dad was born in Barrow-in-Furness, and the family went back quite a long way in that area. His great grandad was a Dodgson - another northern name, I think.
