Armand Chappée was born in 1835. He entered the iron business in 1856. In 1875 he became the director of the foundry that was owned by his father-in-law. He died in 1922.
Saint-Malo was severely damaged during the liberation of France in 1944. The city was largely from the 18th century, after a fire in 1661 and a bombardment of the English and the Dutch in 1693.
