The Waard Canal is in the east of Leiden. It used to be a very poor neighbourhood. The houses were so bad, that they had to replaced by these modern buildings. Now the area is highly desirable

Built in the late 1970s to replace very bad housing, but the quality wasn't good and the houses are full of asbestos. After standing empty for years, they are now demolished.
