Pardubitz 2026 – Občanská záložna

Originally a house from the 15th century, around 1900 it was renew to become a bank. Since 1995 it has become a house for European Associations (Evropské spotřebitelské centrum).

The ornaments:
• The upper equestrian figure: This is the famous Czech military commander Jan Žižka, depicted on horseback and holding his iconic mace.
• The lower panel: This shows a historical scene from 1462 in which the Czech King George of Podiebrad (Jiří z Poděbrad) rejects the demands of the papal nuncio, Fantinus de Valle.
• The top of the façade: At the very peak, within the arch, you can see a seated figure of Saint Wenceslaus (Svatý Václav), the patron saint of the Czech lands.
