Nationaal Onderwijsmuseum 2025 – Yellow schoolbag

When I was young, there was kindergarten school from age 4 to 6 and then you went to "lagere school" (lower school). In 1985 these two school types merged to form the "basisschool" (primary school), from age 4 to 12. At the start of this new system, schoolchildren got this plastic yellow bag, inside there were leaflets with information about the new system. Later it was discovered that the manufacturer used hazardous cadmium as a yellow dye and the bags had to returned.
