Strasbourg 2025 – Musée de l’Œuvre-Notre-Dame – Jewish gravestone

After the expulsion of the Jews in 1349, the stones of the Jewish cemetery were used as building material. Some of them were rediscovered when the city walls were taken down. This stone says:
“The one buried here was devoted to God and men, Rabbi Joseph, son of Rabbi Abraham, buried on the 17th of Marchesvane, a Monday, in the year 108 of the small calculation.”
