I don't know, maybe the owner cannot sell it as a going concern. Animal lovers weren't all very happy with this shop, if reviews on internet have to be believed.

I did some research in the local archive. T.F. Vlieland took over the business of A.J. Wijnnobel in 1890, after Wijnnobel died in 1885 (aged 64 years). The earliest mention of Wijnnobel is 1851. The shop moved from the Maarsmansteeg to this building on the Nieuwe Rijn in 1903.
