There is a legend connected to it. Monks of a local abbey had a bull which had eaten all the grass of a field and he needed more. The monks decided to put the bull on the roof of the abbey, as there was more grass there. However the bull fell from the ropes in the attempt and escaped. One monk followed him with a club to catch him. He failed and as consolation, he ended up on the coat of arms.

The monk wasn't carrying the club on the coat of arms of 1625, so it is a relatively recent addition.
