Monument to Israel David Kiek, photographing pioneer

Israel David Kiek lived from 1811 to 1899. He started photographing in the 1850s. His surname has become the word for snapshots in the Netherlands. As he lived in Leiden, he has photographed many students. This monument, representing a camera on a tripod, is located on one of the most photographed spots in Leiden. If you look through the viewfinder, you can see several of Kiek's pictures.
