The Result of Another's Greed

I visited Grounds for Sculpture, a park full of sculpture displays located in Hamilton, New Jersey. It is a fascinating place. The particular display pictured above captured my attention because it illustrated a dark time for many people who lived through the Great Depression of the 1930s. This worldwide financial collapse was the result of rampant greed that drove financial speculation in the 1920's. The sculpture was created in 1991 by artist/sculpter George Segal (1924-2000), titled "Depression Breadline".

Words cannot express the deep anger and sadness I feel about the terrorist attack on the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando Florida this past weekend. Sadness over the tragic loss of innocent lives. Anger for senseless hatred and fanaticism. And a special disgust for the politicians and their synchophants who shamelessly politicize this tragedy instead of addressing the real problem: Radical Islam and its adherents.
Note: When I use the term "Radical Islam" I am not talking about all Muslims; I am talking about fanatical terrorists who pervert Islam for the purpose of power and control over everyone and every culture.
I stand in solidarity with the Pulse Club victims and their families, and for all victims of terror who don't make the news...because those victims could have been any one of us.

A pencil drawing I did when I was fourteen of one of my favorite actors, Rod Taylor. I decided to use some processing from Photoscape to give it a bit of a "modern art" twist. The original image of the drawing is in the note.

The Elemental Easter Egg

I have always loved the simple beauty of an egg; nature's version of minimalistic art.
Eggs have always been considered a representation of new life. The reason why Easter and eggs are so closely linked was probably due to eggs being forbidden during Lent. During the strict Lenten fast of forty days no eggs were eaten. It was during Easter that the consumption of eggs resumed after the strict Lenten fast. Eggs were thus a mainstay of Easter meals, and a prized Easter gift for children and servants. Read more at www.theholidayspot.com/easter/history/icons/easter_egg.htm#G52lq0lsVuGlrqWJ.99

No Parking...and a Message of Peace?

On our way to the Brooklyn Bridge, we walked past this garage door. For some strange reason I felt compelled to snap a shot of it; I guess there was a certain symmetry about the composition I liked. It wasn't until I processed the image that I realized there was an interesting graffiti message written on the smaller door...
Thank you so much for your kind words and faves, everyone, they are most appreciated!

An experiment using PicMonkey's mirror processing effect on an antique glass bottle (yes, the same bottle I used for my other 5 pictures in the series). Somehow I am reminded of Salvador Dali when I look at the results, lol ;-)
