Chalk Art

I did this yesterday, as a publicity demo for a chalk-art fundraiser for the local school arts program. It's 5.5 feet x 4 feet.

5x10 square sponsored by Hit House, a music production company. At Chalk It Up fundraiser today.

Nell and I participated in the Chalk Art Festival on Redondo Pier today. (That's the Pacific Ocean you can see behind us.) We didn't win anything, but we had a grand time, and our square seemed to be a favorite with little kids. Nell and I sitting with our square, waiting for the judging. The theme was "Dol-Fun," which is how we ended up with a dolphin in a ballpit and wearing a party hat. It's an Amazon River Dolphin, thus the long snout and pinkness.

I did two sponsored (5x5) squares at Chalk It Up this year. This one was for Mattel Hot Wheels. It's hard for me to draw a car, even a toy car...

I did #4 and #2, daughter did #3. It was a nice cloudy day at the beach, perfect for chalking.

Her "Bearded Seal" got a lot of attention. She's improved her drawing skills so much since last spring.

I always forget to take in-progress photos when I'm chalking, but this was how it looked after about 45 minutes.
