New Baby Card
| |
I made this card for a friend's daughter, who's having a baby shower this week. Image is from my own family albums--I don't know who mother or baby are, but they're so sweet. Background watercolor is from scrap paper in our school art room; there's also a leftover painted strip of cardboard, and two punched pieces held on with a brad, and some machine sewing, ink, rubberstamping.
Crocheted Rainstorm Costume (almost done)

I'm probably going to keep adding streamers and tulle and beads and such, and I have better underdress planned, but the crocheting part is pretty much done now. (Didn't get a good photo of the back, so that'll have to wait till next iteration. But I like the back a lot.) The shoulder rain is made from 30 shoelaces; the lower streamers are shredded t-shirt fabric; shoelaces and t-shirt strips are from Trash for Teaching in Gardena CA.
Baby Mat and Bundle Tote

I crocheted this baby mat for a friend's granddaughter, from strips of t-shirt fabric found at Trash for Teaching in Gardena (they're donated leftovers from factories, in this case from American Apparel). I added handles and ties, so that it can also be used to tote bundles, like laundry or beach towels. Completely washable, of course.

Birdhouses mounted on a post (looked like this part of the lot was being prepared to be a community garden). Ours is the one in the foreground--daughter did the right half, I did the left half.

These are some of the artists' birdhouses displayed at the event. (I don't know who did the yarnbombed birdhouse, but it was nicely done, as were all the rest, really.)
