This chair was built c1909 in San Francisco, for an Eisteddfod (Welsh literary festival) there. It's been in California ever since, and today it held a place of honor on the stage at the St. David's Day festivities in rainy Los Angeles.

I used a Morse code translator to make the pattern--it reads "put a ring on it" (each row of violet is a dot, each row of green is a dash, each red row is a space between words).
