Harrow on the Hill, Middlesex

I know this path well. Between 1979 and 2009 I lived in either Pinner or Harrow and often used to walk up here. A terrific shot!

It leads to the church, so it must be a path of righteousness.

Seriously - I saw an almost-identical shot somewhere, and (not knowing Harrow on the Hill very well) from aerial photos and Google Street View, I eventually worked out where it was taken from, and this morning I made a special journey to take it.

There are many black and white photos from the middle of the 19th century (it attracted photographers and landscape painters even then), and the place hasn't changed a bit! The most obvious differences is the trees, many have gone (including all the elms) but there are mature veterans in modern photos that were mere saplings in the 1850s.
