Mary Arden.
I always wondered why her surname wasn't Shakespeare. If Arden was her maiden name, it seems to go against English custom, especially then, of a wife taking her husband's name. In Spain this never happens and the wife retains her maiden name after marriage and the children add her surname to the father's. I haven't heard that either she or her name were Spanish!
