LARC - LX - 10 April 2014

I would like to say that this is a photograph I have been waiting to take for a long time but it is much less than that. It is, in fact, many years since I first noticed two vehicles - which I took to be landing craft - on land in Tipner at the north end of Potsmouth. That land is now not publicly accessible and this is the best view I could get of what I now know to be two LARC LX (one numbered 16) with US Army markings. LARC is the abbreviation of Lighter, Amphibious Resupply, Cargo, 60 ton. There is a much better 2003 photograph by David Joyce on Flickr.
