Construction City

The construction work in Karlsruhe is a never ending story. Here today and not gone tomorrow, but simply in another spot. That's why the real Karlsruhe remains invisible and hidden to residents and visitors alike.
In fact, Karlsruhe should have been mentioned in Italo Calvino's post-modern novel Invisible Cities, perhaps as Carla Wilhelmina in chapter 11 "Hidden Cities".

P.S. The definition of post-modern means "beyond the modern post-office". A term that was originally coined in Karlsruhe (where else?) after the central post-office on Europe Square had been turned into a modern shopping mall.

Haha, das könnte auch bei uns sein! Immerhin tut sich hier was im Untergrund, das lässt hoffen! Was Post-modern angeht: unsere Hauptpost ist schon lange im Shoppingcenter, und jetzt wird sie dichtgemacht, damit man noch mehr shoppen kann. KA und S sind halt in the Länd, das merkt man einfach;-)

Ja, ohne Baustelle wäre der Blick auf die Stadt schöner, Güni. Vielleicht. Oder vielleicht auch nicht, weil man sich ja schon sehr an diese Baustellen gewöhnt hat. Der Ausblick ohne Baustelle könnte direkt langweilig sein ;-)

Du sagst es! Es ist ein ganz wunderbares Gebäude, fantastische Architektur, hervorragend gelungen und passt bestens ins Stadtbild. Aber die meisten sehen es nicht, weil es unsichtbar ist. Um es zu sehen braucht's schon ein sehr kreatives Auge ;-)
Immerhin ist der Bauzaun für jeden sichtbar und das ist gut so. Denn jetzt sind die Bauzäune halt mal da.
