I think you are right and it has been lowered I would rather see them as original but I guess it is each the their own.

Thank you Keith I know of another one the same colour as this but it has the original wheels which I prefer, it is a case of each to their own and different strokes for different folks, either way as you say, iconic

Eins der schönsten Fahrzeuge, die ich kenne, typisch mit seinen 15 Fenstern. Nur der T1 Samba hatte 21 Fenster ( noch welche im Dach). Noch heute wird er bei uns in Hannover gebaut, aber schon lange nicht mehr den selben Charme wie früher und der Preis ist exorbitant

You are so right that the new ones don't have the same charm as the originals and the price is beyond belief, but they still have a big following and I see quite a lot of them where I am and I know of one 21 window version but it is rare to see it.
