Osnabrück
If there's a bright center to the universe, you're on the planet that it's farthest from.”
The former Hanoverian Provincial Madhouse
Build 1868, this building has changed to more subtle names over times, but never occupation.
Female cross spider
Araneus diadematus with the eponymous cross prominently on the back.
Osterfeuer
Holy Saturday in Northern Germany people gather around big bonfires. The hills around my city are speckled with their light and the night smells like fire everywhere.
Megalith tomb
The Gretescher Steine. Local piece of Nordic Megalith Architecture and also starting point of the hiking path Gretesch-Schledehausen-Wissingen.
Gretescher Steine
My predecessors in this area liked to build funnel-necked beakers (3500 - 2800 B.C.) and gigantic tombs. This one is on a lift over the brook Belmer Bach, whose meander has likely destroyed part of the grave over time.
Panorama Lüstringer Berg
The small hilly forest I grew up with.
Summer in Osnabrück
The Brinkhof is one of many homesteads that used to surround old Osnabrück, but now are more or less inside it.
Quick shower
The copse at Mordsiek shelered us while the only shower on our hike to Kloster Oesede came down.
