La Grange de Cuarnens" (The Cuarnens Barn)

This building was founded in the 12th century by the monks of the Vallée de Joux (the Abbey).
The De Mestral family inherited it and restored it in 1637, hence the date on the door (not the year it was built!).

At the beginning of the 20th century, the building was in ruins and the inhabitants used the stones to widen the road leading to the village of l'Isle.
Today, this little piece of history, still in excellent condition, is a listed historic monument.

Cette bâtisse fut fondée au 12ème siècle par les moines de la Vallée de Joux (l'Abbaye).
La famille De Mestral en hérita et le restaura en 1637 d'où cette date sur la porte. (Et non année de construction !)

Au début du 20ème siècle, la bâtisse était en ruine et les habitants utilisèrent les pierres pour élargir la route qui menait au village de l'Isle.
Aujourd'hui, ce petit bout d'histoire, toujours en excellent état, est classé monument historique
