Hebden Suspension Bridge over River Wharfe
The bridge built by Hebden blacksmith William Bell was opened on 26th September 1885. Crossing is interesting as it tends to sway from side to side. Horizontal steel cables attached diagonally at third points provide some restraint to movement. The bridge deck is narrow and has very little stiffness.
