Cologne's arch bishop Clemens August I had this palace built in the early 18th century. Along with the smaller Falkenlust palace, Augustusburg is a UNESCO world heritage site. Unfortunately, it is not allowed to take pictures in either of the two palaces.
One of my favourite churches - located in the town where I was born, it served as the church of the nearby electoral palace. One of my favourite memories of this church goes back to a couple of years ago. During the lent, youngsters were given the chance to write down what they would have done had they lived during Jesus' time. One kid had written: "I would have liberated him!" I was about to write a serious reply that in this case he would have made the passion, the sacrifice and our salvation impossible... Fortunately, my better half stopped me: "Are you mad? You cannot have a theological dispute with kids..." And how right she was...
