Banholt had eeuwen lang een Kerkstrijd met Mheer,,in Mheer was een doopvont en konden mensen begraven worden.
De Kerk werdt gebouwd in 1876,,,alleen de kerk,,de Toren kwam eerst in 1922
Het is een zadeldak toren wat een zeldzaamheid is in Limburg
Duizenden jaren lang heeft men op deze plek vuursteen gewonnen--het dorp ligt op ca 200 m
