Hoek van Holland ist Teil des Atlantikwalls, der deutschen Verteidigungslinie die sich entlang der Küste von Norwegen nach Spanien ausdehnte. Eines der Überbleibsel der Linie ist der Bunker am Noorderhoofd. Dieser „Tischbunker“ aus dem Jahr 1943 ist ein Geschützbunker des Bautyps 611. Dieser Standort in Hoek van Holland war wichtig, aufgrund des Zugangs zum Rotterdamer Hafen und dem Hinterland. (Internet - Atlantikwall-Museum)

Danke fürs Zeigen, liebe Uli! Das Denkmal ist ja noch viel mächtiger als der Panzer in Westkapelle. An die südliche Ecke dieser Küste bin ich nicht gekommen. Eine Radtour, die ich von Den Haag aus machte, führte zur anderen Seite über Scheveningen, Leiden und Den Helder bis in den Nordosten von Texel. Schöne Dünenlandschaften allenthalben!
