Ein sehenswerter geologischer Aufschluss im Ortsteil St. Micheln der Stadt Mücheln (Geiseltal). Zu sehen ist ein Ausschnitt des Unteren Muschelkalk. Von oben nach unten: Der Untere Wellenkalk, darunter folgt die Werksteinbank, die Gelbe Grenzbank und die Strohgelben Kalke.Letztere gehören schon zum Oberen Buntsanstein, dem Röt, und dort zu den Myophorienplatten, die nach einer fossilen Muschel benannt sind. Die Werksteinbank wurde durch Tiefbau (unterirdische Steinbrüche) abgebaut. Die Abbaue sind schon stark verrollt oder eingestürzt..Sie reichten ursprünglich bis an die gelbe Grenzbank heran. Die Werksteinbank wurde zum Bau von Scheunen oder Grundmauern von Wohngebäuden genutzt. Leider befindet sich der Aufschluss heute im Hof eines Privatgrundstückes. Ich wünsche Euch ein nicht allzu verregnetes Wochenende!
