Coast Guard Cutter "Anthony Petit"

Coast Guard Cutter "Anthony Petit"
This is a 175 foot long "Keeper Class" cutter (named after notable lighthouse keepers), generally categorized as a coastal buoy tender; here moored in Ketchikan Alaska ... and Wikipedia says: "Keeper Class cutters serve the Coast Guard in a variety of ways such as maintaining aids to navigation, search and rescue, law enforcement, migrant interdiction, marine safety inspections, environmental protection, and natural resources management. Keeper Class cutters are also used for light ice breaking operations." Wikipedia also says: "Anthony Petit was an American lighthouse keeper. In 1945 he was assigned to the Scotch Cap Light in the Alaska Aleutians as the head of a five-man crew. All of the men were killed on April 1,1946 during 'The 1946 Aleutian Islands Earthquake', when a massive tsunami struck the station, leveling the strongly-built masonry structure."
