'Blickling Hall' and estate was the site of a medieval manor house owned by Harold Godwinson, the last Anglo-Saxon king. The estate later became home to the family of ''Anne Boleyn'', the second queen of 'Henry VIII'. In the 1620s, Sir Henry Hobart transformed the Boleyn’s house, creating the south front’s iconic Jacobean façade. In the 1930s, . Today, Blickling houses one of the most significant libraries in the country and boasts significant and rare interior Jacobean plaster ceilings. The house is at the centre of a complete country estate including gardens, parkland.

Origins dating back to the 11th century, with surviving Saxon and Norman features give the church its present form. The small board seen left describes Norman carvings, which includes a lintel depicting St George and the Dragon. The philosopher Thomas Hobbes, author of Leviathan. spent his final years at nearby Hardwick Hall and was buried in the church in 1679. Memorials to the Cavendish family, reflect the church's close connection with the Hardwick and Chatsworth estates. Ault Hucknall itself is often described as England's smallest village, consisting of the church,. a farm and two houses.

A photo from 2011,. 'Egerton Lane' - in Sheffield centre.. due to re-development,. little now remains of this back street of old Sheffield.. once packed with housing and small cutlery workshops. This is an area of the city that Hitler's bombs missed during the intense air raids on this once great heavy industry and steel manufacturing city. The larger 'Miller's pond' at Hardwick park,. a series of 5 ponds close to the hall., which include two 'ice houses' where in winter ice was brought up from the ponds and stored to serve the needs of the hall.

Spring greenery is in full flow,. as a regular local Heron sits lurking - waiting for a passing snack.
