Sunset

13 Jun 2023 40 35 176
Today, three thunderstorms and a sunset. Sight and Sound. Worth a listen. Canned Heat did well to record this and make it well known at Woodstock. It's a blues gem from 1928! www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8NJ-MIfFHI

Buitrago del Lozoya. Town walls.

I like the warm tones of these walls. And taken from the exact same spot as my previous upload. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm9UadB7XvE Sixto Rodriguez. Worth a listen,

Dawn this morning.

My sister's shot and taken from exactly the same spot as the previous upload of this evening's storm! (totally by co-incidence!) Sight and sound. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm9UadB7XvE&list=RDGMEMSXVAzroJmjGomFuKt8TQEAVMJm9UadB7XvE&start_radio=1

Personification of Spain!

13 Oct 2012 42 36 242
I was amazed when I saw the outline of a map of Spain through this rock window! OK, it's not a perfect outline but you couldn't get much better! La Sierra de La Cabrera and the Bustarviejo Valley.

Another stormy day! Or, a Midsummer Night's Dream!

Apart from 3 sunny days , the weather has been atrocious these past 6 weeks since I returned from Cornwall! The oleander seems to thrive in it though!

More Cornish tin mines. HANWE, everyone!

Situated on a minor side road between St Day and Chacewater, I only re-discovered them when sent on a detour due to a road closure. I don't know their names. Perhaps worth viewing on large for detail of the stonework. Sight and Sound: I heard this aged 9 at the same time as Penny Lane and fell in love with them both and it was the first time I listened to popular music - I was having a classical musical training. Have ever since loved the 'best' of both! www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDgqIyprGLM

Spring wildflowers, La Sierra de La Cabrera.

25 May 2019 34 23 199
This is the sort of scene I was hoping to see this Spring but the weather was against me and I'm not yet 100% sure I've got quite enough stamina back yet. Oh well ... This is a previously unshown shot from the last time I walked in this granite wonderland; 25/05/2019. Four whole years ago. It doesn't seem real somehow! Sight and Sound. Eric Burdon and War. Tobacco Road. An all time favourite. Long but worth it! www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF87aqqmf4Q

Where sea and cliff meet

23 Aug 2015 41 32 197
Tubby's Head, Cornwall. www.youtube.com/watch?v=18620H_z8Uk I like listening to Chopin and looking at the sea at the same time!

Sunset, Algete

03 Jul 2023 29 25 242
Not the most spectacular sunset but the light just highlighted the Sierra de La Cabrera rather nicely here, I thought. Probably better on large. I add a note about the old road. We're lucky that the view is unspolt. The main roads to neighbouring villages go well to the left and right of our view! Please see Pam J's response below. Much there of great interest! Sight and Sound: Another Sixto Rodriguez classic; www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgQ-QrCFMjs

HFF. Trumpet vine.

I wasn't looking for perfection here, I just liked the colour contrast and the general HFF theme. Algete street scene 23.

And yet another!

03 Jul 2023 40 33 283
Another day, another storm! And another day I had planned to get back to those mountains you see there! Ha ha!!

Above the village / town.

La Sierra de La Cabrera. Pure granite. An oldie for sure. The town of La Cabrera lies at its foot. From the town, it's quite a tough and steep ascent. I'm trying to build up the stamina to tackle it again. No editing - I quite like the rough effect. Sight and sound; another Sixto Rodriguez classic: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCbtijgxUw8

Puerto del Medio Celemin

14 Jan 2012 55 40 311
Another side of the Sierra de La Cabrera that is away from the main ridge but has its charms! A smoky / hazy winter shot. (Also posted ages ago but worth another airing methinks!) Another bitterly cold winter day. Here is a link to my 'Mushroom Rock', as mentioned in the photo notes. www.ipernity.com/doc/2247598/46109522/in/album/1039862
