The Old Dairy, Saint Day at dusk

05 Feb 2023 24 18 550
in Pink Moors, Vogue, St Day. No longer a creamery but they still milk their cows here. The market for Cornish clotted cream is dominated by Rodda's, just up the road in Scorrier. I don't know but this farm's milk possibly goes there for processing. I like their yellow door!

Old parish church and cemetary, St Day

Another low light shot. Possibly worth a close-up view. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLGl8Oc484Q Sight and sound. In the realms of popular culture / music, Hendrix has always been my favourite. Stevie Winwood starred here as well.

Camellia bush and mackerel sky

07 Feb 2023 37 28 555
The camellia bush is getting into its stride. My Mum's garden again (and again a shot taken from inside the outside loo.)

Yellow (van), white (wall), blue (sky) and green (…

08 Feb 2023 24 18 547
Near St Day Old Parish Church. The first sunny day in yonks. (It's the same yellow van in the satellite map!)

HFF everyone!

09 Feb 2023 33 29 502
The first of two HFF shots today. Why do these barriers have to be so utilitarian and plain ugly? (utilitarian I get but why so ugly?) Shot of the Manor work shop. Not quite sure what they did in there, the plaques on the walls are normally descriptive but perhaps even the local historians don't know! The top of the market square clocktower can be seen above it. Low light again. Sorry, but that's the only time of day I'm aloud out of the house for good behaviour!

Camellia frenzy! HFF no. 2 today!

08 Feb 2023 44 42 533
My Mum's garden again. Just one last shot of this bush which has certainly come into its own these past few days!

HANWE Everyone! Lane near St Day.

09 Feb 2023 26 20 386
Low light again. The fields around Pink Moors and the path I often take on my constitutional (around 5-5:30 each afternoon / evening.)

A horse field, Saint Day. (Probably good field mus…

A very overgrown hedgerow obscures much of my view from the lane I take but a slight gap here revealed these horses and a view to Chapel Street with Carn Marth behind. Another low light shot. If I stay here much longer then two things will happen, my girlfriend will get just a little bit fed up if she isn't already ... but at least the shots will get brighter! A little better on large. Just for fun: sight and sound: www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3ykNhtXf_0

Couldn't resist another camellia shot.

13 Feb 2023 14 14 356
The bush is going great guns!

Another from my path of the moment

11 Feb 2023 27 30 699
A nice sky and twilit fields leading up to Carn Marth. Probably better on large. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZmeFGmiQDI A classic and very underrated performancde by War. Sight and Sound

HFF no 1 today.

16 Feb 2023 25 23 449
Couldn't resist again! Camellia bush at or neai its prime. And the abutillon on the left has been flowering determinedly all winter! Interesting ... the map has my parents living at The St Day Fryer! This chippy was wonderful and only a few doors down from us. Every Friday evening my mum used to take a break from cooking and we'd get a fish supper in. Sadly it closed about 10 years ago! Sight and sound www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Jvdy6khEmA

HFF no 2 today

13 Feb 2023 37 31 473
Over the road from The Star Inn at sunset. (And sadly one dead tree.) Sight and Sound; Janis again www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tnr_HAkNHhM

At its peak today!

20 Feb 2023 14 6 329
The camellia bush is at its best point today! Despite it being the dullest day on record (short of actual fog!). A very welcome sight! Sight and sound; www.youtube.com/watch?v=BV7RkEL6oRc

You lookin' at us?

20 Feb 2023 24 15 434
Another very dull day today but I feel it can give a semi-mystical feel - sometimes! (Marginally better perhaps on large).

Squeezeguts Alley

22 Feb 2023 31 19 661
A well-named alley (or 'ope' in Cornish) in the middle of Old Truro. The pleasant-looking building is the Old Grammar School, now a bar.

HFF everyone! I'm in danger of infringing the new…

I don't know the name of this tin mine. I was sent on an unexpected detour by roadworks and came across quite a number of old mining structures that I knew were there but hadn't visited for about 25 years. I'll try and find out. I have a few more tin mine ruin shots to post in the fullness of time! Later add on. I think many of the mine buildings hereabouts fall under the name of Wheal Busy. But I could be wrong.,

My Mum's other camellia

24 Feb 2023 15 9 367
Not wanting to be left behind it's now madly trying to catch up! Behind is the roof of the vast Primitive Methodists' chapel, Now a warehouse.

HANWE everyone from another inquisitive horse and…

View down to Pink Moors from my path to the pub! Perhaps better on large for view of handsome horse!
