Granite scenery again. Ahead are the peaks of El Cancho Largo and El Cancho Gordo. I am on the GR10, the long distance walk from Valencia to Lisbon (I wasn't DOING the route!).

Near our climbing hut. We booked this place a few times in the late 70s from the Junior Mountaineering Club of Scotland (JMCS) and had some terrific times here, especially on the Cuillin Ridge. A scanned slide from a series of slides that had become somewhat degraded. Most were useless, a few, such as this, still had a little merit in them so I decided to post.

Arid but beautiful, in high summer. Just remember to pack at least 4L of water in your rucksack when you depart as there ain't any water re-fueling points!

HFF, everyone! From a scanned slide taken in Algete, Madrid Province, May 1986. I found about 50 slides in a box when I went home to Cornwall this summer for a couple of weeks. I just had them scanned here in Madrid to find that some, like this, had become somewhat degraded. Poor storage conditions probably, damp, too much light, or something. A pity. I tried to edit the few that were rescuable and will be posting them shortly - a few of Skye and that is about it!

Gives an idea of the profusion of granite boulders and shapes in this Sierra! Fabulous walking and scrambling country! I think I know every rock and boulder by now - seven years of walking among these boulders and I should!.
