Can you spot my brother? He's a great one for taking selfies, the narcissistic little prat (only kidding, bro!)
btw, the island hugging the coast is called Asparagus Island and the one further out, Samphire Island.

Well, it's more turquoise than blue but it just about qualifies for Isabel's group!

Parroquia del Santisimo Cristo de la Victoria.
I had no idea when I took this shot that in only a few days time I would be back in Cornwall where I still am!
I like this church and small, unpretentious and pleasing little square.
However, I screw my nose up at that 'no dogs' sign! How absurd and vindictive even!

'Are ye lookin' at me, PAL?'
Perhaps the longest standing 'stare-off' in the history of granite.
An amused Griffon Vulture soars by!
La Sierra de La Cabrera.
I usually scramble up and into that gap on the right and emerge near the top of the escarpment. More fun than using the zigzag and boring path!

The hill of Carn Marth doesn't look much but it has some terrific views and makes for a good 2 hour round trip on foot, except that I can't spare that sort of time at the moment. I have to rely on memories of walks and of photos taken years ago. This is taken just outside the village of St Day, Cornwall on a freezing cold morning.
The scene is today resolutely agrarian but between about 1740 and 1860 it would have been Hell on Earth as tin, copper and arsenic mining occupied nearly all the land you see here. St Day gained the nickname of 'The Richest Square Mile in Cornwall!'
There's very little to be seen of all that now!.
This might interest some of you!

Fore Street, Saint Day, Cornwall at dusk.
The parked cars reduce the slight spooky effect.
The low building directly behind the car was the old smithy. Saint Day still seems buried in its past.

A day of weather extremes, as indicated by this storm cloud and an incredibly blue sky!
It's an old saw that Cornwall doesn't do climate; only weather.
On large perhaps for some detail.

St Day marketplace clocktower. The colours change every few minutes or so and this stays in place right from Remembrance Sunday through to 12th Night.

Terrace view. I live here and it seems I also live in Cornwall. Too complicated to explain, but certainly a dilemma..

Another of my sister's from her house. I like the way the sun just kisses the golden fields here.
Looks pretty good to me on large!
Sight and Sound, simply because we can easily forget how great they were.

Our near neighbours, the former Primitive Methodists chapel. It was built in 1885 so is newer than my parents' house by about 50 years. It ceased to be used for worship not long after it was built and is now a warehouse of sorts.
The low structure with the corrugated iron roof houses our outside loo!
No reason for this except that it amused me!

Porthtowan beach. Some ecologically sensitive areas have been fenced off to help re-establish local dune flora and wildlife and to plant native grasses to stabilise the dunes. The sea looks better on large.

La Sierra de La Cabrera. A day of fog for the whole of central Spain. I wasn't sure when I set out by bus whether a) the bus would actually get to the mountains and b) that I would eventually stick my head up from under the cloud. It worked a treat on both counts and I got some lovely pics, many of them previously shown. 11 years ago but it seems like yesterday, of course!
It was helpful that I already knew all the paths here like the back of my hand!
Underneath the fog here is the Valley of the Lozoya river. Behind me you would have an even bigger sea of fog, with Madrid deeply under it.

As some of you know, I'm in Cornwall looking after my parents who are frail and getting on a bit. I found this old photo which was grainy and of poor quality to begin with but I just liked it so I took a photo of the photo and here it is! He was, by the way, a wine merchant of some standing and renown in his day!
I would love to know what the wine was that was giving so much pleasure but, alas .. !
... Add on ... my dad thinks it was at a wine tasting he put on once a month at the local community centre and where I helped out when I could. In Wallington south London near his shop 'The Wine House' . He thinks it might have been a sherry tasting and I can recall it and I think he's right, and the year was 1988.
Fruit of the day.

I bought the bowl at a craft fair somewhere in Buckinghamshire in the 80s and it has resided in my parent's house while I have been in Spain these past 12 years. I've always liked it so thought I'd record it on my mum's kitchen worksurface which is nicely tiled in a very cheerful red. I used to serve heaps of steamingly hot pasta in it! The bowl is EXTREMELY heavy which is why it hasn't travelled due to Ryan Air's weights policy!
Of course you don't normally place blueberries and raspberries in a fruit bowl such a this.

Another of my sister's shots. We certainly get some good skies!
View from the middle terrace. I could never get tired of this view!
Works quite well on large and then on beaming in further!
I thought about cropping it to knock out the top part of the sky, but decided to retain the integrity of my sister's shot in full. Sight and Sound;
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ry44Kvr39eE I`ve always appreciated her talent.

From a few years ago and not uploaded previously. The Four Towers peer above this waste ground, fence and good street art. Re-discovered the shot on a hunt for a fence!
